Frequently asked questions
Where do the exchange rates come from?
Rates are fetched live from Frankfurter, a free, open-source API built on the European Central Bank's official daily reference rates. This tool calls that API directly from your browser — no data passes through our own servers.
How often are the rates updated?
The European Central Bank publishes reference rates once per business day, typically around 16:00 CET. Rates aren't updated on weekends or ECB holidays, so the figure shown may reflect the most recent business day rather than the current moment.
Can I use this for trading or official financial decisions?
No. These are indicative reference rates, not real-time market or bank rates, and can differ from the rate you'd actually get when trading, transferring money, or paying with a card. Always check with your bank or broker for rates that matter financially.
Why isn't a currency I want available?
The currency list is limited to what the European Central Bank publishes daily reference rates for — around 30 major world currencies. Some smaller or less commonly traded currencies aren't included.
Does this tool store or track my conversions?
No. The amount and currencies you choose stay in your browser and are only sent, as part of a standard API request, to the public rates API to fetch the current rate — nothing is logged or saved by this site.
